HOBBIES & INTERESTS 2

PHOTOGRAPHY
Photo Al took of a plane crash in the Black Hills
Al had a life long interest in photography. He was interested in all stages of producing a picture, from choosing the equipment to taking the picture to developing and printing the image. When the Nevada Gulch house was built, Al put a dark room in the cellar, right next to the shelves for storing Myrle's jars of canned food. While in Hawaii during World War 2 Al spent much of his free time taking photographs, of the scenery as well as of the people he met.

COIN COLLECTING

Al's hobby of collecting coins began with the currency from the countries he visited while in the Merchant Marines. He added United States coins to his collection, along with some paper money and commemorative coins. The collection now belongs to one of his great grandchildren, who has the same interest in collecting coins,
Al won a First Place purple ribbon
